Where's That Squirrel?

Kaylee is hiding behind the compost bin, waiting for a squirrel to forget there's a dog in this yard. She's tried to hide in the bushes and make her rush from there. No luck, and so now she's trying to hide a little closer to the oak tree. She knows squirrels aren't too smart, and if she's quiet, they will forget she's there and come to get some acorns.
Summer is over, thank doGness. I have the brace off my wrist, and can comb her, and take a turn on the leash, too. Since I couldn't comb her, Kaylee got a huge hot spot; licked a bare spot the size of a quarter on her right flank. Now that it's cooler, the fleas aren't so bad, and she is regaining her energy. I couldn't get her into the house yesterday afternoon. Kaylee spent hours outside, hunting squirrels and luxuriating in the cool, damp weather.
We took her to the vet shortly after I broke my wrist, asking for a short summer cut. Seems the vet's office has instituted two policies - must have a current bordatella shot whenever you visit, and leave the cut long. We were unhappy with both the cut and the extra charge for the shot. Kaylee was miserable through July, August, and September. We're looking at clippers and blades quite seriously now.
